Tour + #Giveaway - The Christmas Confection [Hardman Holidays 6] by Shanna Hatfield @ShannaHatfield

Title: The Christmas Confection
Author: Shanna Hatfield
Genre: Western, Victorian, Sweet, Holiday Romance
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR

Blurb:

Will a sweet baker soften a hardened man’s heart?

Born to an outlaw father and a shrewish mother, Fred Decker feels obligated to atone for the past without much hope for his future. If he possessed a lick of sense, he’d pack up and leave the town where he was born and raised, but something… someone… unknowingly holds him there. Captivated by Hardman’s beautiful baker, Fred fights the undeniable attraction. He buries himself in his work, refusing to let his heart dream.

Elsa Lindstrom adores the life she’s carved out for herself in a small Eastern Oregon town. She and her twin brother, Ethan, run their own bakery where she delights in creating delicious treats. Then Ethan comes home unexpectedly married, the drunks in town mistakenly identify her as a missing harlot, and a mishap in the bakery leaves her at the mercy of the most gossiped-about man in Hardman.

Mix in the arrival of three fairy-like aunts, blend with a criminal bent on dastardly schemes, and sprinkle in a hidden cache of gold for a sweet Victorian romance brimming with laughter and heartwarming holiday cheer.

Her historical westerns have been described as “reminiscent of the era captured by Bonanza and The Virginian” while her contemporary works have been called “laugh-out-loud funny, and a little heart-pumping sexy without being explicit in any way.”

Convinced everyone deserves a happy ending, this hopeless romantic is out to make it happen one story at a time. When she isn’t writing or indulging in chocolate (dark and decadent, please), Shanna hangs out with her husband, lovingly known as Captain Cavedweller.

The pleased grin on his face broadened. “Very well, Elsa.”

Her knees wobbled at the sound of his deep voice saying her name, but she resisted the urge to grip the counter for support. “You said there were two things you wanted, in addition to cookies. What is the second?”

“It’s a tiny little thing really,” Fred said, tightly gripping his hat in both hands.

“A tiny little thing? Then I shall take great honor in bestowing whatever it is.” Her gaze roved over the kitchen trying to imagine what in the world Fred could want. She had a jar of candy she sometimes used to decorate cakes and cookies. Perhaps he wanted one. “A piece of candy?” she asked.

Fred shook his head. “No, Elsa. It’s sweeter than candy and far, far better.”

Intrigued, she took a step closer to him. “What is it?”

He waggled his index finger, indicating she should step closer. When she stood so her skirts brushed against the toes of his boots, he tapped his cheek with the same finger. “A little sugar right here would be even better than ten batches of cookies.”

Perhaps it was the way he was posed that made him seem so tall. Her gaze traveled from the top of his dark Stetson down his long legs to where his boots disappeared in the snow. He certainly appeared to keep in good shape.

She scrolled through several more images. Tinsel jumped on the desk next to the computer screen and meowed. Jessie stopped and looked from the cat to the screen. Moisture filled her mouth as she stared at a head shot of Chase, hair tousled and rugged masculinity oozing from the full-color image. He looked at the camera with heat evident in his eyes and his enticing full bottom lip beckoning to love-starved women like a beaming beacon.

“Oh, my word,” Jessie whispered, wondering what she’d just gotten herself into. How could she possibly marry this gorgeous hunk of man in front of who knew how many people, even if it was all in fun? “I can’t do this.”

The cat meowed again and swished his tail in her face, as though he admonished her.

“Is that so, Tinsel? What do you think I should do?” she asked, picking up the cat and setting him down on the floor.

He gave her a long, knowing look then jumped back up on the desk, fixated on her computer screen.

Jessie rubbed a hand along the cat’s back. “It looks like I’m going to marry a cowboy.”

Tamie Dearen

Tamie loves to play, sing, and write music. She started writing books in 2013 and published her first book in October of that year. Since then, she’s published six novels and a novella. She also wrote a free serial romance on her weekly blog, A Rose in Bloom. And in her spare time, she’s a dentist. (But she’s painless.)

Tamie met her husband as a freshman in college when she acted out of character on a whim. One night in the library lobby, she spied a cute guy with his first name written on the back of his shirt. She called out his name. When he approached to talk to her, she pretended that she’d met him before, asking about his classes and how he liked college. To her surprise and delight, he also pretended that he knew her, but of course he didn’t know her name. They continued this false relationship for two months. Each time they saw each other, an event which occurred three times per week at the cafeteria, he would pretend he knew her. Meanwhile, all of Tamie’s friends were careful not to reveal her name to him. When he finally admitted his ignorance of her name, he was astonished to learn the truth. And the rest is history.

Two unlikely matchmakers set the stage for love…

Fynlee Dale returns to Holiday to take care of her wacky grandmother. Although it means giving up her dreams of a career and husband, she needs to be there for Grams.

Carson Ford vows to take care of his elderly aunt after buying her ranch. Comfortable with all aspects of his life, his world turns upside down when he meets a woman who's impossible to forget.

They find themselves in the midst of a plot by two scheming old women determined to make them fall in love.

Valentine Bride is a funny, sweet romance given a liberal dose of humor through a cast of colorful characters intertwined around a heartwarming love story.

Fynlee held back a sigh as she watched the older women, wondering how many calls from the staff loomed in her immediate future. Matilda got into enough mischief on her own, but now she’d be dragging poor Mrs. Beaumont into the fray.

A clearing throat drew her gaze to the brawny man standing beside her, staring at the underwear in her arms.

“Is that a welcoming gift?” he asked with a lopsided smirk.

Heat flamed into Fynlee’s cheeks, making her freckles stand out even more as she hastily looked for somewhere to dump the briefs. With nothing readily available, she wadded them into a lumpy ball and clutched them against her side.

“No, it certainly is not. I don’t think anyone would want these old things, anyway.” Humiliated, she studied the burly, unreasonably attractive stranger. At her five-ten height, it wasn’t often she encountered a man tall enough to make her look up to fully see his face.

A tanned forefinger tipped back the brim of his straw Stetson and Fynlee swallowed hard. Blue eyes sparkled with humor behind thick lashes and a boyish smile added to his considerable appeal. Hints of golden brown hair peeked out from beneath the hat brim.

“I’m Carson Ford. Aunt Ruth asked me to help her get settled.” He held out a work-roughened hand to her.

Fynlee glanced at it, noting a cut across the back of his knuckles and a jagged scar near his thumb. Those hands looked every bit as rugged as the man to which they belonged.

With only a slight hesitation, she reached out and shook his hand, unprepared for the electrical current that sizzled from her fingertips up her arm.

From the way Ruth spoke of her nephew who purchased the ranch, Fynlee assumed he’d be in his fifties. A picture of a pot-bellied, balding man had fit her image of him. She certainly never envisioned the nephew as a young, incredibly attractive cowboy.

Gathering her rapidly scattering wits, she smiled at him. “It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Ford. I’m Fynlee Dale. That loony woman with your aunt is my grandmother.”

The sound of his deep chuckle made something softly pluck at her heartstrings. For a brief, fleeting moment, Fynlee toyed with the idea that she’d finally met the man she would one day marry.

Stunned by the preposterous notions swirling through her mind, she took a step back and turned toward her grandmother’s apartment. In her twenty-seven years of living, she’d never seen a man as virile and entirely appealing as Ruth’s nephew, but that was no reason to lose her head.

Surrounded by hunky cowboys, what’s a girl to do?

Advertising executive Paige Porter heads to Las Vegas for the finals rodeo with one goal in mind: Find a cowboy with the perfect…um… genes to model her client’s new western clothing line. After covertly watching hundreds of men walk by, Paige finally finds the cowboy with her ideal assets. Before she can approach him, he disappears into the crowd. She’s left with a picture of his back pockets and an annoying rodeo clown who makes her wish she’d never left home.

Cooper James lives life to the fullest, determined to make people smile with his own special brand of humor. As a rodeo clown and barrelman, he loves engaging the crowd and getting a laugh, even if it means embarrassing an uptight ad executive who’s desperately searching for the ideal model for a new brand of jeans. Intrigued by the woman, Cooper has no intention of telling her he recognizes the denim-clad backside in the photo she’s flashing all over town.

Laughter, lighthearted fun, and love ensues in this heartwarming holiday romance.

“What about that one?” Randi asked, grabbing Paige’s arm and motioning toward a tall cowboy standing a few feet away. He filled out his jeans exceedingly well, but he was too burly to be Paige’s ideal model.

“No. He isn’t the one.” She turned away to study the crowd and continued walking down an aisle past vendors selling Christmas ornaments and jewelry.

“Oh, that one’s nice,” Randi whispered, drawing Paige’s gaze to a swaggering cowboy making his way down a crowded aisle in front of them.

“Too bowlegged.”

Randi fisted a hand on her hip and studied her sister. “You’re terribly picky for someone desperately searching for a cowboy willing to have his butt exploited to benefit your career.”

Paige swallowed the mint she’d been sucking on and coughed, choking on the candy.

With feigned innocence, Randi thumped her on the back. “What? I’m just telling the truth.”

The glare Paige tossed at her only made her laugh. “Come on. The perfect behind has to be around here somewhere.” Randi tugged her down another aisle. The two of them stopped to admire a booth selling hand-knit scarves. “I think I’ll start my own list, like Santa’s, for all the good little boys. See,” she said, pointing to a cowboy who walked by. “Now that’s nice.”

“Don’t you feel the slightest bit of shame, ogling men’s backsides when you’re a married woman?” Paige took note of a cowboy with an exceptionally good-looking face, but when he turned around, he didn’t meet her criteria of what she was looking for in the jean department.

“No, I do not. I may be married, but I’m not dead. Besides, this is all in fun and I’m only staring at butts to help you. If you think I make a habit of gawking at men’s rumps, you are sadly mistaken. Dave’s cute little…”

Paige slapped her hands over her ears. “Too much information, Miranda Marie. I don’t want to hear anything about my brother-in-law that will make me embarrassed to look him in the eye the next time I see him.”

Randi giggled. “Okay. I’ll take it down a notch.” She walked close to Paige, categorizing the men the encountered as they continued meandering through the booths. “Nice. Meh, he’s okay. Oh, that one is nice.” She pointed to a cowboy walking past them and waggled her eyebrows. “Really nice.” Suddenly, she stopped and gaped at a cowboy standing across the aisle, talking to someone behind the counter at a booth selling a variety of tack. “Whoa, Nelly! He’s got to be on the top of Santa’s naughty list with a fine form like that.”
