New world, new rules . . .

Alex is screwed. She’s due at the fae Court of Enchantment in less than twenty-four hours, but she’s not even close to being ready. Her job is hanging by a fraying thread. There’s a new vampire master in town. And several of her werewolf friends have been captured by the Paranatural Task Force.

She’s their best chance for release before the full moon reveals their secret, but the Lord of Enchantment is not someone you keep waiting—even when he happens to be your grandfather. All Alex can do is call in a favor, hope to hell she can survive the plots of the fae court, and hightail it home to salvage her life.

One mistake at court could change everything . . . .

“Original and riveting.”—Book Likes Blog on A Drop of Magic, Book One of The Magicsmith series

Deeper into the shadows. . .

The paranatural community isn’t done with Alex. She’s been summoned to the fae court, and she's got her hands full trying to prepare. But her date with the fae will have to wait. There’s been a death at the gallery, and the man she hoped would be a part of her future is the prime suspect.

Bitter enemies pull her into the middle of a paranatural war for territory that has her dodging police, swords, teeth, and claws—not to mention the truth. The deeper she digs, the more secrets she uncovers, and the less certain she is about the innocence of the one man she wanted to trust.

She thought she was done with murder and monsters, but she’ll have to enter the belly of the beast if she hopes to save her friend.

A Drop of Magic
The Magicsmith Book 1

The war isn’t over . . .

With the world clinging to a fragile peace forced on the Fae by humanity after the Faerie Wars, metalsmith Alex Blackwood is plunged into the world of the half-fae who traffick in illegal magical artifacts. Her best friend’s murder and his cryptic last message place her in the crosshairs of a scheme to reignite the decade-old war between humans and fae.

Worse, violent attacks against her and the arrival of a fae knight on a mission force Alex to face a devastating revelation of who and what she is. To catch a killer, retrieve a dangerous artifact, and stop a war, Alex will have to accept that she’s an unregistered fae “halfer” with a unique magical talent—a talent that would change everything she believes about her past, her art, and her future.

Her world is crumbling around her, and Alex will have to decide who to trust if she and the world are going to survive.

#Family and #food play huge roles in my stories because I believe there is nothing that holds a family structure together like sharing a meal...or two...or ten. Slave of the Sea
The Chronicles of Salt and Blood Book 1
by
Dawn Dagger

Genre: High Fantasy, Pirates

Levanine’s life as a slave is insignificant. She has always been property; bound to her owner, content to serve quietly where no one can cause her harm. However, when her master sells her to pay a debt, her false safety is shattered, and she finds herself offered as a sex slave on the continent of Dreanis.Fearful and hopeless, Levanine expects the worst to happen. Nothing could prepare her to be suddenly swept onto a pirate ship by an infamous captain whose interests are a mystery to her. Forced to think on her feet, the silent girl must overcome a lifetime of servitude to survive on a ship where everything is trying to destroy her.As sea monsters, mutinies, and ghosts wreak havoc on the ship and its crew, Levanine realizes that she doesn’t have the luxury of simply surviving until they arrive at Avondella, her continent of redemption. Levanine must decide whether she will die the person she has always been, a meek nobody… or will she make a name for herself at sea?

Dawn Dagger has had a passion for reading and writing ever since she could remember. When she was six she drew and wrote her very own book, and though it hardly makes sense now, she was so proud. She has written many books, short stories, and poems since then, and continues to do so. Dawn placed highly in her two middle school years of Power of the Pen and even has her short story 'The Haunting' published in an anthology, She admits she isn't good at anything physical (except some ballroom dancing), or video games, but she does enjoy a nice game of Mario Kart, a trip fishing, or just a walk in the woods. She has a knack for taking pictures of whatever catches her eye; especially brightly colored flowers. Dawn is a sucker for a good fantasy book, lives off of coffee, and loves her wonderful family and friends, and her dedicated boyfriend, Nevin, who is just like a romance novel character.

Dawn has over 70 stories started (don't believe her? Just the other night she rattled off the 37 stories she's actually named and what they're about to Nevin because he wanted to know) and that doesn't include short stories or poems. She has lots of writing to do, and is excited for what's ahead!

Author: Emily Cyr

Genre: Contemporary RomCom

Publication Date: March 3rd, 2020

Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR

Blurb:

Emery St. James never dreamed of being a contestant in one of those dramatic baking contests. But then her life turned into a reality show of epic proportions.

Owning a bakery was her childhood dream – and the pompous rich boy who opens a French pastry café right down the street, her worst nightmare. The last thing she needs as she struggles to make ends meet is competition. Even more annoyingly, competition by the name of Marshall Bartlett, who has the nerve to steal her parking spot and insult her bakery. But putting Marshall out of her mind isn’t a piece of cake. Not when both families attempt to broker peace by blackmailing them into five “get to know you” dates, and especially not when Emery’s sex-starved grandmother is chaperoning from afar.

Will their dates go down as easily as Emery’s cherry cobbler, or will they be a recipe for disaster?

Emily Cyr is a stay-at-home mom turned writer. She holds a degree in middle grades education with certification in English and social science. She has always had a love of all things paranormal and fantasy, but it wasn’t until Emily’s husband said the words, “Why not?” that she considered putting her thoughts and ideas into the book, The Lightning Prophecy. This trilogy was just the start for Emily. It seemed to open a creative door that had been locked.

Emily has always been an avid reader. Through reading came her love of writing. The more she read, the more she knew she wanted to create her own world. Many of her first works were fan fiction.

Emily and her family currently reside in Cibolo, Texas. She has an incredibly supportive husband who is also an officer in the United States Air Force. They have three sons, ages 6, 4, and 1. Somehow, even with the demands of being a parent to two little boys, she finds time to escape to her fantasies and write them down.

The steady beat of hooves pounded in Brae's ears as unknown pursuers bore down on her. This would be her final escapade one way or the other... #FlashbackFriday The Devil Take You #HistoricalRomance

Last week for Flashback Friday, I shared the Preface from Epic Historical Romance, The Devil Take You. [If you missed it, you can check it out HERE] This week I thought I'd skip ahead to when our heroine meets our anti-hero. I hope you enjoy when Brae meets Gard. 'Tis hardly a romantic beginnin'. 😉 Happy Weekend, folks!

About the Book:

I believe your stay in purgatory has only just begun...

Braelynn Galbraith wants peace for her beloved Scotland, marriage to her childhood sweetheart, and a house full of children. In that order. But evil incarnate, in the form of Gard Marschand, turns her life inside out and destroys all hope of a decent marriage.

Known in the Highlands as the legendary devil, Gard Marschand raids his way across Scotland and England amassing power and property in his malevolent wake. He will stop at nothing in his pursuit to regain what is lost—even conceal his true identity and associate with his enemies. His determination is all-consuming until he and his men lay siege to Ross-shire and one feisty Scottish lass obliterates his single-minded purpose.

Can Gard abandon his deep-seated need for revenge for a love that just might save his rotten soul? Or will he succumb to the demons that hound him and surrender to the devil within?

Extract - The Devil Take You

A plume of black smoke rose over the burm, swirling into the sky.

“Dear God, not again.” Brae dropped the bouquet she had been fashioning and ran, perhaps stupidly, toward the village. Even with the wind whistling through her ears, the commotion and terror-filled shrieks of the town folk still reached her.

With her attention focused on locating her family, Brae didn’t hear the horses behind her until the last second.

All of a sudden, her feet lost contact with the damp earth. She choked on a scream as some unknown assailant grabbed her by the hair and plucked her from the ground. The destrier never slowed its pace as she dangled precariously in midair.

In agony, Brae clamped her hands on either side of her head—her scalp threatened to peel away from her skull.

The kidnapper hauled her up in front of him and body slammed her stomach-first onto the horse’s back. Brae’s breath rushed from her lungs at the force. She bunched her hand into the rider’s enormous black cloak and hung on for dear life.

While she struggled to breathe, the brigand wrapped his rather large leather-clad hand around her backside.

“This one be mine!” The sound of his deep voice chilled her. By his accent, he was English! Braelynn closed her eyes and recalled the warnings from Callum and her da. Had her own father’s words cursed her? Was she to learn the lesson the hard way?

She was afraid to open her eyes, but she knew by the smell stinging her nose that they were close to the source of the acrid smoke.

The horses came to an abrupt halt. Brae barely had time to register the fact when someone from behind grabbed her by the ankles and attempted to rip her from her captor’s lap.

“She be mine,” her captor growled.

To her horror her skirt rode high.

“I want her!” the second brigand responded while caressing her bare leg. Brae’s skin crawled.

In terror, she stared up at the raider holding her while the other slid his rough hands ever higher up her plaid.

Leather creaked when her captor leaned in the saddle. He placed one large booted foot in the center of his rival’s chest and shoved. At once, Brae’s lower body dropped as he fell backward from the blow. Her arms pulled taut, stretching painfully, supporting her weight.

Without warning, the man holding her suddenly released his grip. Brae slid down the horse’s side and fell to the ground with a thud in a tangle of voluminous skirts. She did not wait to disentangle herself but seized the opportunity to flee. She leapt to her feet intending to run, but her captor was faster. He grabbed her by the hair yet again. Circling it around his hand, he reeled her in.

“Not so fast, Caileag.” He sneered the last as if it were a nasty word. “You and I have some business to attend.”

Reviews:

A story that ranks with those of Jude Deveraux and Nora Roberts ~ Goodreads

This book was wonderful in so many ways. Feisty heroine, brooding hero, historical facts woven into the plot, descriptions of sweeping landscapes, drama and intrigue. ~ Goodreads

What a fabulous, well crafted story! I could hardly put it down. I love Brae as much as I loved Holly in the Always Cambridge series. They’re not the same character at all, but Brae is just as spunky, brave, creative, smart and grounded. ~ from the editor

Based on the blurb I wasn’t sure if I would like Braelynn. I like my female characters a bit tougher than she sounded. Boy, was I fooled! The book starts off with a bang, Braelynn sending messages for the rebels. From here it’s a wild ride of fantastic Scottish accents, action and romance. Gard is a great character as well. I really felt his need for revenge and his struggle with his feelings for Braelynn. If you’re a fan of Scottish romance this should be on your to be read list! ~ Bella The TBR Pile

The prose is fresh, witty, and charming.
I’ll start by saying this was an AWESOME read. I really enjoyed it.
...The setting is rich and detailed. I felt as if I was in Scotland.
...There’s also a bonus of history in the novel. It was wonderful to learn as I read.
...I loved the characters. Brae was feisty and outspoken, but also grieving much loss. She was true to the women of her time. Gard came in the form of black death. But there was a gentleman lurking beneath his devilish exterior, that he stifled, even fought to conquer. But Brae is his weakness so he engages in a battle of wills with himself. He has a mission to complete, and he’s determined not to be side-tracked because of Brae.
...The secondary characters were given the same developmental care as Brae and Gard.
...The plot is bang on. Besides the romance between Brae and Gard, there is mystery, there are quests, and the author ties this all up beautifully at the end.
...The pacing never slows.

To Weave a Highland Tapestry
A Tale from the Order of the Dragon Knights
by
Mary Morgan

Genre: Time Travel/Scottish Medieval/Paranormal Romance

Publisher: The Wild Rose Press, Inc
Publication Date: December 9, 2019

Patrick MacFhearguis, hardened by battles won and lost, desires what he can never have—peace within his heart and soul. Yet, the ever-meddling Fae weave a new journey for him to conquer—a task this Highlander is determined to resist.

When skilled weaver, Gwen Hywel, is commissioned to create a tapestry for the MacFhearguis clan she embraces the assignment. While seeking out ideas, she finds herself clutching the one thread that can alter the tapestry of her heart and life.

A man conflicted by past deeds. A woman with no family of her own. Is it possible for love to unravel an ancient past in order to claim two badly scarred hearts? Or will the light of hope be doused forever?

His eyes smoldered like fire. “Will ye heal me with a kiss?”

Her breathing became labored. “We’ve only just met. I don’t kiss strangers.”

Slowly, he brought her fingers to his lips, kissing each one. “I have told ye my name. What more do ye wish to ken?”

Gwen chuckled low. “I don’t even know your surname.”

Bringing her wrist to his mouth, he nipped along the vein, sending shards of pleasure up her arm and down her back. “MacFhearguis. Patrick MacFhearguis.”

Gwen swore her heart stopped beating. Lights danced in a tempest around her. “No,” she whispered.

He arched a dark brow. “Aye. ’Tis my name, lass.”

This time, Gwen yanked with all her might and was rewarded when he released his hold on her. All the pieces of her jumbled puzzle of insanity slipped into place with clarity. Her mind screamed at the impossibility. She refused to submit to the conclusion. He must be a different Patrick MacFhearguis.

However, the further she fought the realization, the more everything became crystal clear.

Gwen required proof.

She fought to steady her nerves and clutched her hands to her chest. “What is the year?”

Patrick’s brow creased. “Are ye troubled, Gwen?”

“The year!” she demanded, pounding her fist into the palm of her hand.

A flicker of uncertainty reflected in his eyes. “Twelve hundred and nine.”

Hysterical laughter bubbled up inside her, and she squashed its release immediately. “How in the hell did I end up here?”
